VIRGINIA AXLINE

My clinical experience and training has focused on developing my capacity to support children, youth, and their caregivers in the following areas:
Trauma
Sexual violence
Attachment
Divorce
Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder
Anxiety
Depression
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Conduct Disorder
Self-Harm
Self-Esteem
Coping Skills
Parenting
Peer Relationships

I work from a client-centered perspective rooted in developmental psychology and attachment theory. I see my clients, no matter how young, as the experts of their lives and as having an innate capacity for growth. I believe that relationships are fundamental to counselling. I work with children, youth, and their families to create a safe environment, where my clients can express themselves in the way that feels most comfortable for them. I draw on a number of therapeutic modalities in order to support each client’s unique needs.
